EBA Alumni Cole MacLaren has officially signed with University of Pittsburgh an NCAA Div-1 school in Penn-sylvania. MacLaren was previous at Colby Community College in Kansas.

MacLaren was a member of Eastern Baseball Academy’s Winter Training Program back in 2013. A 6 month program which operates from November - April every year and also a program where a lot of our college and high school placements coming from.

MacLaren was a great example of a player who didn’t shy away from hard work, a player who went about his business with tremendous focus and took it upon himself to get his reps in on a daily basis so he could therefore get to the next level. Which at that point was Okotoks Dawgs Baseball Academy!

Cole was recruited by the Okotoks Dawgs at an EBA workout back in 2013, specifically held for the Okotoks Baseball Academy. From there Cole eventually decided to go to Okotoks to further his baseball career in hopes to sign with a quality college program down the road which happened to be Colby Community College a Div 1 Junior College based out of Kansas which has a good history of developing players and moving them onto an NCAA institution! That they did as MacLaren would sign with University of PITT 2yrs later.

U of PITT is apart of the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) and prior to joining the ACC in 2013-14, Pitt had won both the Big East Conference regular season and Big East Tournament championships. The Panthers have also received four First Team All-American selections, and have appeared in three NCAA championships. 52 Panthers have been selected in the Major League Baseball Draft

With MacLaren’s work ethic and the confidence he has shown over the last 2-3 years I have no doubt that MacLaren will be competing and outworking other Catchers in the program to earn himself an important role behind the plate, states Monaghan.

We would like to wish Cole all the best in his baseball endeavors, keep up the hard work!
