TEAM BLACK 2013 WINTER TRAINING PROGRAM WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS

After a back and forth affair TEAM BLACK were able to come out on top in game six by a score of 5-3 taking the WORLD SERIES in six games with a 4-2 series win.

TEAM BLACK’S poor base-running and poor approaches at the pate during the first 2 games ended up being their strong points over the next four games and this is what helped propel them to victory over TEAM WHITE. TEAM BLACKS aggressive base-running was a help in getting runners in scoring position, where they were then able to use their bats to score timely runs.

TEAM WHITE had great defense throughout the series but were lacking the fire power and consistent contact at the plate to manufacture runs. Throughout the last 2 games of the series TEAM WHITE left 17 runners on base which was the turning point especially in the last 2 games of the series.

Overall the series showed how important it is to have aggressive base-running at the right time and then to have timely hits to manufacture these runs. Backed by great defense can get you a long way through a season or an important series.

Key players throughout the series for both teams are as follows:

Dominique Ryan - Timely hitting
Casey Affleck - Great defensive showing
Cole MacLaren - Strong offensive approach and display of hitting
Denver MacKenzie - Quality AB’s throughout six games
Jed Noonan - Great defensive work
JJ Oram - Showed strong baseball sense and timely hitting
Ryne MacIsaac - Exceptional defensive showing and smart reads on ground balls
